Sexual Equality in Fashion: Mr Porter

When it comes to online retailers for menswear there aren't many options worth noting. We have ASOS, Oki-ni and Top Man. This in comparison to the hordes of womenswear retailers is nothing so believe me when I say that Mr Porter is more than welcome in the world of mens fashion.

For those of you that haven't figured it out, Mr Porter is going to be the menswear equivalent of Net-A-Porter.

Battle of the sexes...

When it comes to accessories I believe that it's easy to blur the line that separates those made for men and those made for women. I also encourage men to do it. I think that our options though they may be widening are still somewhat limited but should we choose to take the bold step we can open up a door of endless possibilities without loosing our masculinity. Take this bracelet for example...

Made in LA by a brand called CC Skye, if worn correctly could give off the impression of an acute sense of style should a man choose to wear it. It's that adventurous combination of gold screws with the python skin that makes it work so well.

In this day and age men shouldn't be afraid be bolder in their chosen attire. I'm not saying all men should be wearing Cesare Paciotti ankle boots with their 3 piece suits (unless of course that's your thing) but I think a little more sartorial freedom is needed to make things a bit more interesting. The idea of taking something that was made for a woman and wearing it would probably sounds a little tranny-esque to a lot of men but when done correctly the outcome can be quite impressive.

 

This to me is what defines the idea of a Glamorous Man

The girls get it so good...

Women don't know how lucky they are when it comes to fashion. It's okay for a woman to wear pretty much anything and get away with it. Hell, women can even venture into menswear and it's seen as "cool". The lack of sexual equality in fashion sickens me to be honest. Really and truly the level of sexual discrimination against men is beginning to reach proportions of an epic magnitude and I am even further disgusted when I see items like this...

 

As we all know Chanel is by default a womenswear brand. This shoe however could easily go between the lines of sexuality. Unfortunately the chances that this will be sold in a size above a UK 8 (42 in Europe) are next to none. I think it's just plain disrespectful unfair that as usual the men have been forgotten.

Return of The Crown

Ladies and gentlemen I feel as though I owe you all an apology. For the past few months I have not been fulfilling my duties to you as an advocate of glamour. I can imagine you are all probably unimpressed with my lack of updates and for this I am truely sorry.

But fear not for I am back. After a journey of self discovery I have returned and I promise you, the next time I decide to go on hiatus, I will let you all know.

I bet you're wondering what I've been up to all this time. Patience my dear disciples, I'll let you know over the next few posts. In the mean time I would like to introduce you to a dear friend of mine.

Yeah I know there's some womenswear in there. I tried to slip it in without anyone noticing but it just wasn't gonna happen. The truth is that I have opened up my spectrum of work to the fairer sex. Why? Because the money is fucking great! That's why!

If I Were A Girl...

If I had a girlfriend (if you laugh I will hunt you down and nail your tongue to the ground) she would so have to wear these while riding in my car.

The shoes aren't real but it's stuff like this that makes me think that girls don't know how lucky they are.

The only Womenswear I will bring you...

I have an appreciation for things that I am unable to do. I love seeing people with talents and abilities that I do not posses. Bellow are some illustrations by my good friend Nadia El Meallem.

I can see there are mixed mediums in these pieces of art which I find quite impressive. I'm slightly jealous. If I was able to do stuff like this maybe I would have passed my course in college. Maybe life would just be nicer. Who knows.
